Anti-Capitalist Hypocrisy
I continue to hear people demonize capitalism, saying that it sparks greed, and that it leaves out the poor and middle class. This whole concept has no factual base, and is solely dependant on someone's opinion on how much money someone can make. First of all, no one person, or group of people, should decide how financially successful someone can be based on their perception of what constitutes "too much". There is no incentive for innovation or creativity, if you put a cap on what someone can make, or earn. This "Occupy" bunch, that continues to cause problems for the so called 1%, waltz around with their Ipads and smart phones, trying to bring down the same companies that produce these gadgets that they enjoy on a daily basis. If people don't like big business, that's fine, but don't continue to throw money at these companies and then turn around the next day, and be protesting their right to exist and make a profit. If these people really wanted to stick it to these companies who are in the so called 1%, they would boycott their products and refuse to contribute to what they see as a problem. But, they will not do this, for two reasons. First of all they do not understand in detail what they are protesting. Second, they do not have principles by which they live their lives or make decisions, which is why they fall prey to these types beliefs. There are alot of good people that are being taken advantage of, in the name of social or economic justice. So much freedom that we have lost, has been in the name of charity. That is the way progressives fly under the radar. Make it all about charity, and helping the poor, and saving the planet. It's about toying with peoples' emotions. They recruit good people by making them think that they are doing something good. Organizations like ACORN still exist although under a different label. Van Jones, George Soros, and others, are still hell bent on seeing this through. We as Americans must be up to date and educated on everything going on, and remain alert. We must know what we believe and what we stand for. We are going to be put to the test very soon. Remember to do your own research and never take anything at face value.
Well stated grasshopper. The top 1% make most of everything. I say we as consumers be greatful.
Grasshopper, you made some great points. I think the worst thing that has evolved out of the whole occupy thing was stated best in an article I read that felt the whole "us versus them attitude" just creates seperation, negativity, and continued conflict. If we consider ourselves as interconnected, and "one" we can find more peaceful solutions.
'An imbalance between rich and poor is the oldest and most fatal ailment of all republics'.
The fact that greed kicks in ultimately, in capitalism and that a tightly controlled market & the economic model of communism turned out to be a failure, requires us to find a balance between the two. US' problem right now is capitalism & democracy turning into tyranny, the rich & powerful manipulating the system in their favour to grow even richer. That in itself may be allowed but everything has its natural limits.
Everything worked well until the masses were denied their fair share of the wealth. The key is balance of wealth & power. Someone will have to ensure it, sadly that same someone will also then get greedy and overstep their bounds & abuse that authority. How to find and uphold that balance in everything is the question whose answer eludes us to this day.
